The Good News is here! You can have a wonderful personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, starting now.
Why do we need Jesus?
We at Foundation of the Faith are committed to helping people enter into a wonderful relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But you may be wondering why a relationship with Jesus is necessary, and what it is really all about. Let me take just a few moments to talk with you about these things.
The Bible tells us that after God created the heavens, the earth, and every living thing, that sin came into the world (Genesis 2-3). Because of this sin, there was a separation between God and creation. It wasn’t that God stopped loving creation; it was that sin created a barrier which separated Holy God from sinful people.
Humanity said prayers and offered sacrifices but none of these things could take away the sin which had marred all people. But God devised a plan to make things right through His Son Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ, we are told in John 1:1 & 1:14, was God in the flesh. He left His home in heaven for the sole purpose of giving people the chance to have an intimate relationship with God, just like Adam and Eve had before sin came into the world.
He did that by dying for our sins on the cross. But you may be asking, “Why did Jesus have to die for my sins?” That is a very good question! Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This means that all people are born in sin, and because of that they fall short of reaching Holy God.
Why did Jesus have to die for my sins?
Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.” This means that our sins have earned us a punishment, and that punishment is death or eternal separation from God. If this condition is not changed before we die, our imprisonment will be Hell–and the duration of our sentence will be eternity.
But this verse also says that the FREE gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Look at the next verse with me…
Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
You see, God does still love all people. And He loves them so much that He let His Son die in our place. While our sin made us guilty, and we deserved death, Jesus took our punishment for us so that we would not have to die. When He did this, He opened the prison cell which sin kept us in, and made a way for us to escape our sentence. But there is still something else you must know before all of this makes a difference for you. Look at this last verse…
Romans 10:9-10 tells us, “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation.”
This Scripture means, that you must first believe that Jesus died for your sin and was raised from the dead, then you must make confession with your mouth that Jesus is now the boss of your life.
These are the truths of the Bible. Yet you may say, “But I don’t have any sin.” I John 1:8-9 tell us, “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
You see, sin is our problem because it carries a death sentence. But Jesus has already paid the price for our sin by dying in our place. Now the question which remains is this, “Will you make Jesus your Boss by giving Him your life, or will you remain as you are?” You are the only one who can answer this question. But God hopes, as do we, that you will receive this free gift of eternal life which Jesus has made available.
Do you really want eternal life?
If you would like to make this decision, you can pray right now and receive the eternal life that we have been talking about.
Remember, God knows your heart. The words which you say will mean nothing if you don’t mean them with all your heart. But if you do want God’s eternal life, and you mean it with all your heart, please pray a prayer to God like the one below.
How can I be forgiven of my sins?
I know that I am a sinner. I ask you right now to forgive me of my sin. I am not only sorry for my sin, but I promise to turn away from them right now. I know that you died in my place, and I know that you rose from the dead. Please take my life and become my boss. And I will commit to do what you tell me to do according to the Bible. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for saving me. And I mean this with all of my heart.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
