Milestones
I want to thank you all for your encouragement over the past three and a half years as I sought to complete a Ph.D. degree through Regent University. To the glory of God, I graduated May 10, 2008, with a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership. Without a doubt, this educational journey has been the most challenging and most rewarding educational experience of my life. Obtaining this degree gives me the credentials I need to continue to teach and write in the field of academia. I am humbled to tell you that Luther Rice University has raised my teaching rank from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor of Leadership, and I have been asked to serve as the director of the Master of Arts in Leadership degree program. Influencing the lives of these ministerial students continues to be a wonderful blessing. Additionally, teaching at LRU provides a tremendous platform from which to gain invitations to speak, teach, and preach in various academic venues and churches. Now that the Ph.D. studies have subsided, I am looking forward to being busier than ever. (Pictured: Jim and Phyllis Waddle, Sharon, Rusty, Lyndsay, and Rus)
Our son, Rus, also graduated from The King’s Academy High School on May 24, 2008. If you will allow me to brag just a little, Rus graduated as the valedictorian of his class and also won the Social Studies award for the outstanding history student. Rus will be attending The University of Georgia in the fall, transferring eighteen hours of credits from Kennesaw State University that he obtained while being joint enrolled during his senior year. To say that he is excited would be the height of understatement.
Lyndsay is a rising senior at Berry College and continues to stay on the Dean’s list each semester. She had a leading role in Shakespeare’s The Twelfth Night, choreographed a dance piece for the Berry College Dance Concert, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Musical Theater is the place for her, and she is thriving both socially, academically, and spiritually through the WinShape program.
Sharon is doing great and plans to teach again at The King’s Academy in the fall. With two children in college (I will be the only child at home.J) I have been trying to convince Sharon that this is a good thing. She is still not so certain.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. If you can help with the trip to Brazil this September (see back panel), that would be a real blessing. We love and appreciate and pray for you.
Rusty, Sharon, Lyndsay, and Rus
